2017 Ford Focus Specs, Review

The 2017 Ford Focus was introduced at the Geneva Auto show and it will have a completely redesigned exterior and interior. A lot of changes have been made on the design of this four door sedan; in the US it will be offered as a hatchback with 5 entry points. The engine has also been improved for better performance; Ford will also produce an all-electric version of this car that will offer more than 110 miles of driving on a single charge. It will be available in 3 trim levels S, SE and Titanium which will all have different features to suit buyer’s preferences.

2017 Ford Focus – Stylish Exterior Design:

The exterior of the 2017 Ford Focus will have a chassis made of light materials to improve on fuel efficiency. The SE trim will be the base trim and offered with 16 inch wheels. The luxury and sports package will have 17 inch alloy wheels. There will be a restyled hexagonal grille, a reshaped bumper and the old headlights and fog lights replaced with LED technology. This car will also have reshaped lines that give it a distinct appealing look. The top trim Titanium; will have 18 inch alloy wheels, heated mirrors and a rear spoiler.

On the inside, the 2017 Ford Focus sedan has a spacious pleasant cabin that can comfortably fit 5 passengers. The driver’s seat is adjustable and the back seats can fold if more space is needed in the trunk. Power windows will be at the front with the rear windows manually operated. There will be quality fabric covers on the seats on the S and SE trims while the higher trim has an all leather seat covers and steering wheel. A 4.2 inch display will be in the dashboard for navigation and infotainment that includes: sync voice controls, USB ports, Bluetooth connectivity, a CD player and a 4 speaker audio system on the S trim. The SE trim has 6 speakers while the Platinum trim has a 10 speaker audio system and an 8 inch touch screen display. Other features that will be exclusive to the Titanium trim are: a sunroof, heated steering wheel, high beam headlight control and keyless ignition. There is a dual zone climate control system in all trims and multiple security features installed including: stability and traction control, antilock brakes, blind spot monitoring, tire pressure sensors and multiple airbags.

2017 Ford Focus – Power Unit:

Two engine options will be offered for the 2017 Ford Focus, the base unit has a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine that is mated with 5 speed manual transmission or a 6 speed automatic transmission gearbox. Output for this unit will be 160 horsepower and 146 pound-foot of torque. This engine can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 8.3 seconds and 9.0 seconds in the automatic and manual transmission respectively. EPA fuel efficiency ratings are an average of 31 miles per gallon for the automatic transmission and a combined 30 mpg for city and highway with the manual transmission. The other engine option is a 1.0 liter 3 cylinder EcoBoost unit that outputs 123 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque. It is mated with a six speed manual or automatic transmission and has a fuel efficiency of 29/40 for city/highway.

2017 Ford Focus – Expected MSRP and Availability:

Base trims of the 2017 Ford Focus sedan will retail at $17,225 with the hatchback starting at $19,015. This car will be out in the third or fourth quarter of 2016 and is expected to dominate the sedan and hatchback markets.
